  • William “Harvey” Mannes, 79, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away at home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 .

    He was born in Houston, Texas on May 14, 1937 , to the late Wilhelm Heinrich Mannes and Marian Cadwell Burns.

    Harvey was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Dallas, Texas, in 1956, and of North Texas State University in 1964.

    A veteran of the United States Army, Harvey served his country from 1960 to 1966, specifically as an SP4 during the Berlin Crisis in 1960-1961.

    He was President of Triangle Supply Company in Dallas, Texas until his retirement in 2003.

    Harvey loved to travel, especially to National Parks and cruising around the world. He was a member of Tri-Lakes Coin Club, volunteered at his church, and enjoyed gardening.

    His memory will be carried on by his loving wife of 50 years, Charlotte Mannes; son, Mark Mannes and wife Lisa of College Station, Texas; daughter, Rev. Laura Mannes of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Briahna Yuodsnukis of Palo Alto, California, Ashlynne Mannes, Zoe Mannes, and Kaden Mannes, all of College Station, Texas; Brother in Law, Stroud Jennings of Searcy, Arkansas; Poodle extraordinaire, Sir Hershey Bar Mannes; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and countless caring friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Ingeborg Levering and Marian Jennings.

    A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at Village United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with Rev. Therral Wilson, and Rev. George McCoy officiating.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Harvey’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Village United Methodist Church , or the charity of your choosing. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to CedarVale Funeral Home.
